"What If"

I have always been accustomed to him coming and going. Showing up and disappearing without questioning him; am I his friend, foe or a place he comes back to heal? "Souls tend to go back to who feels like home". Came a question "What if, his love was reciprocated?" That answer has always fall into the impossible category, for now, for he is wary and second-guessing everything. Sadly, if he meant to joke, that there isn't any Universe for it. Deep down, he may be evolving, growing out of his comfort zone? I have yet to figure it out, that unfinished business in his heart. Can't forget or can't let go? Why? Different person, different scenario yet same outcome. Why? If I could analyze that and change it, should I even be interfering?
